GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. October 1, 2005—Crossroad Bible Institute is pleased to announce that Rev. David Feddes, 15-year radio minister of The Back to God Hour, has accepted the appointment to serve as director of The Center for Advanced Studies at Crossroad Bible Institute.
The Center is the newly-formed academic and research arm of CBI. It houses CBI's advanced studies program, develops the theological curriculum, offers continuing education for CBI instructors and, as a think tank, provides education and research for criminal, restorative and social justice issues.
Dr. David Schuringa, president of CBI, is confident in Rev. Feddes' ability to serve as director of the Center. "I am enormously grateful and pleased that Rev. Feddes is coming to Crossroad. As the director of The Center for Advanced Studies, his theological depth, academic rigor and personal godliness will serve the church well."
CBI's close relationship with Rev. Feddes goes back to the early 90s. As a radio broadcaster, Rev. Feddes suggested that their two organizations form a partnership. CBI accepted the proposition, and The Back to God Hour began to refer its inmate listeners from around the world to CBI's faith-based reentry program. CBI's program rapidly launched into a national and international ministry as a result, and it soon partnered with other broadcasters such as Focus on the Family, RBC Ministries and Prison Fellowship to further reach inmates.
In 2005, Rev. Feddes stepped down from his position at The Back to God Hour to work on his Ph.D. at the Trinity Evangelical Divinity School near Chicago. He is phasing into his new position at the Center as he completes his doctoral program.
Rev. Feddes is eager to begin. "One of my great joys during my time as a gospel broadcaster has been partnering with Crossroad. In recent years, CBI has grown and developed beyond my wildest dreams. I applaud the vision and faith to establish The Center for Advanced Studies."
CBI provides faith-based reentry education for prisoners in every state and has students in more than 60 countries.
The Installation Service for Rev. Feddes will take place at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2006, at Family of Faith Church in Monee, Illinois.
