Ciudad Juárez, on the border between El Paso, Texas and México, is considered one of the deadliest cities in the world. Prisons in Juárez are filled with gangs, aggression and rioting. At the same time, the local churches are filled with concerned members who have been impacted by the violence and want to see a change.
CBI developed the new satellite campus in México in partnership with Emmanuel Sandoval Ramos, who served as a CBI Instructor for several years and has a great burden for those incarcerated in his city. Prison officials and church members have welcomed the CBI program, and enthusiastic students are discipling fellow inmates and sharing what they learn with family members on the outside.
The program has received much acceptance among the leaders of the CERESO [prison]. We know the blessing this discipleship will bring to the city. The truth is that I never would have imagined that we would have the kind of response we have had to the promotion inside the prison. I was impressed with the way that the prisoners have accepted the program and was left with my mouth open to see the response.
